Are you a highly-skilled safety professional looking for a challenging opportunity as a Safety Compliance Manager? Our company is seeking a dynamic individual to lead our safety department and promote a culture of safety excellence among our drivers and senior management. As the Safety Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for setting and achieving safety goals, recruiting and training drivers, enhancing communication channels among departments, improving loss conditions, and overseeing insurance and claims management.
Key
Responsibilities:
- Train and skill all commercial transportation employees in accident prevention
- Monitor and enforce compliance with hours of service and safety performance regulations
- Manage insurance issues and claims
- Ensure completion of mandatory safety training for all drivers
- Actively recruit both company drivers and owner operators
- Review pre-hire and contract qualifications
- Develop and maintain systems for driver qualifications and medical certification
- Assist with auditing of driver logs for hours of service compliance
- Conduct ongoing safety training for employees
- Maintain company database to ensure compliance with expiration dates
- Collaborate in strategic planning and forecasting of transportation trends
- Oversee driver performance management and implement rewards and discipline as needed
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment
- Conduct safety training for small groups
- Drive and lead change within the organization
- Possess strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Have a thorough understanding of regulatory compliance and stay up-to-date on changes
- Proficient in MS Office programs and possess strong analytical skills
- Must have exceptional organizational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities with attention to detail
Candidate Requirements:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a safety management role
- Strong knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
- Previous experience in log auditing and safety training
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to lead and drive change among employees
- Proven track record of making independent decisions and solving problems
- Strong command of written and verbal communication
- Ability to connect with individuals from all levels of the organization
- High level of proficiency in computer skills and analytical abilities
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
